Codigo46, an emerging Mexican company, is building and managing the largest biobank in Latin-America in co-operation with Mexican health and research authorities. Codigo46 will genotype one million Mexican subjects in the next three years for the purpose of delivering personalized medicine benefits to patients. BC Platforms excels in genome analyses

February 23, 2015

A recently published methodology paper (Alonso et al, 2015, “GWAS and NGS in bone research”) summarizes the key standard workflows in GWA studies, highlighting essential differences to analyses based on NGS-derived data. The methodology review is based on years of work and experience with diverse sample panels, and different SNP and NGS data production platforms. The key aspects in GWA studies are, according to the authors, the initial quality control of the SNP data, an increase of power using imputation methods across different sample panels and the validation of results using independent sets of samples.

MIMOmics, a new EU project brings together established academic and industrial researchers in metabolomics, glycomics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, scientific computing and epidemiology, with complementary expertise. Fourteen partner-institutions in eight countries spread across three continents have unified their efforts and expertise to better understand and manage dengue epidemics that spread increasingly rapidly towards regions where the disease was traditionally not present, including Europe. Each of the partners brings its own high level expertise on dengue to make the project a collaborative success, funded by the European Union for €6 million. BC Platforms to join international research project investigating metabolic syndrome

January 9, 2012

Eighteen institutions in Europe and Northern Africa have begun research on a project to study genetic and environmental determinants of metabolic syndrome in immigrant Mediterranean populations. The project brings together competences of anthropologists, geneticists and demographists in the effort to uncover genetic susceptibility for insulin resistance. The four-year project is funded by the European Union for €3 million.
